Session 1 Fundamentals of the Method with Colette
Friday, March 4th, 6-8pm
This session of the workshop will explore the fundamental concepts and application of the Kauit Yoga method. The fundamentals are the key to a consistent, effective and lifelong practice—whether this is your first introduction to the method, or you’ve been experiencing the benefits of the method for years. Practicing Kaiut Yoga is a continuous process of educating and liberating the mind and body. From ages 19 to 90 it’s never too early or too late to begin this amazing process, unleashing your potential for more efficient movement and improving the quality of your life for all the days and decades to come.
Topics in this section of the workshop will include:
*Using the 100 series to educate ourselves and continuously improve practice over the lifetime.
*Journaling to educate and grow—Journaling allows us to notice disharmonies and make connections to accelerate our progress.
*Importance of the nervous system—We are chronically over-charged, leading to tension from sacrum to cranium (along the whole spine), impoverishing all of our vital systems.
*The three girdles—The importance and interconnectivity of the plantar (feet/ankles), pelvic (hips, lumbar, pelvis) and shoulder (shoulders, thoracic/cervical spine, hands/arms) girdles.
*Restrictions and blockages and how to uncover and remove them to improve mobility, blood flow, and health.
Session 2 Mobility: Repair and Restore with Molly
Saturday, March 5, 12-2pm
On Saturday, we will continue with the kaiut journey exploring more facets of the nervous system, how to allow the poses to move into your body and experience the calm and the joy of the non doing and restoration of movement. In this two hour practice, we will focus on hip and ankle work to access a forgotten ease of mobility. Can we move from chronic pain to chronic joy? Invest in your life in this new year.
Session 3 Sciatic Overview with Michéal
Sunday, March 6th, 12-2pm
The sciatic nerve is the largest single nerve in the body. Many suffer from sciatica …low back pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks into the leg and sometimes all the way into the foot…a condition that can be infrequent and irritating or severe and debilitating. The third module of this Kaiut workshop will explore ways that stretching and strengthening poses included in the Kaiut method can promote healing of soft tissues, improve functioning of the nervous system which, in turn, helps ease lower back pain and sciatic discomfort.
