Yamas & Niyamas

This workshop is a deeper exploration of yoga as an art and a science that fosters an awareness of ourselves as individualized beings who are intimately connected to the unified whole of creation.

In this workshop we will review Patanjali’s 8-Limbs of Yoga, and take a deeper look at the yamas and niyamas, (yogic “observances” encouraging positive and mindful interaction with the outer world and the inner self). The yamas and niyamas are some of the yogic wisdoms that offer suggestions on how we should deal with people around us as well as our attitude toward ourselves. Integrating these “wise characteristics” (rather than a list of do’s and don’ts) help us to walk in the world a way that is more compassionate, peaceful, generous, and honest.

Workshop Includes:
45-minute discussion, 60-minute power vinyasa class incorporating these wisdoms into our physical asana practice, and wraps up with a 15-minute guided meditation.
